Two dimensional kagome and three-dimensional pyrochlore metals can host a myriad of forms of frustration within their electronic degrees of freedom. Kinetic frustration via hopping interference, sublattice interference effects, and local forms of frustrated charge/bond order are a few examples of this, and an added degree of complexity arises when this frustration either cooperates or competes with other electronic instabilities such as superconductivity. In this talk, I will discuss our experimental work probing unconventional charge correlations that form in a quasi-two dimensional kagome superconductor built from vanadium ions (CsV3Sb5) and its three-dimensional pyrochlore counterpart (ZrV2). The interplay between charge correlations and superconductivity will be discussed along with the origins of short-range charge correlations in each compound.
