In this presentation I will examine and elaborate on the proximity of the collapsed tetragonal phase transition to magnetism and superconductivity in ThCr2Si2 and related structures. Resent advances in computationally predicting a critical pressure have allowed for the discovery of new examples of such transitions and discoveries of super-elastic and shape memory effects will be discussed.
